Ecology of freshwater ecosystems including their origin, physics, chemistry, and biology, and sensitivity to anthropogenic perturbations. This course provides an introduction to limnological theory and concepts in the classroom and through hands on, inquiry based activities in the field and lab.
Ecology of Freshwater Algae
Offered in the spring, This course examines the ecology, physiology, and systematics of algae and cyanobacteria. Topics include algal population ecology and growth models, biotic associations and community assembly, roles of algae in biogeochemical cycles, diversification, and classification of major taxonomic groups.
